Coming up Next - Formula for success

Narain Karthikeyan became the first Indian ever to get Formula one points. With a little help from his sponsors and ample help from the almighty, Narain finished fourth in the just concluded US Grand Prix at Indianapolis. Amongst the strong Indian contingent rooting for his success was yours truly, diligently capturing the patriotic fervour on video. The scene was a riot and reminded me of Indo-Pak cricket matches. Check this space for videos of these unforgettable moments in the history of Indian motor racing...

Why was that a big deal? All the Michelin drivres pulled out. 4th place out of 6 is not exactly top of the notch is it?

The big deal was to have gone all the way to drive a formula racing machine from a little town called coimbatore. The big deal was the thousands of Indian fans who thronged the stadium to support one of their own. The biggest deal was that I was there. :-)
Dei drunken monk, if you keep saying this, then what is the big deal in anything? Is there a big deal in living on a miniscule mound of sand that orbits a small glowing ball of hydogen? Is there a big deal in racing a car that can perform well anyways (Schumi in question here) and winning the championship many times over? Is there a big deal in... *argh* :-)

Good job Narain and all that... but I pity the fact that you went all the way to Indy to watch F1's death in the US of A. What happened last weekend, at the US Grand Prix, was a disgrace to the sport, a disgrace to the very notion of sport. I am ashamed of the way the FIA treated the sport and even more so of what Ferrari did. Jean Todt has definitely lost some points in my book because of this...

@vignesh: No doubt about all of that. It was a tiresome political game for which the spectators were taken for a long ride (and that, after ripping them each of 100 bucks). It was quite disgusting. Especially because these fellers knew beforehand that it is going to turn out this way and they put on an elaborate show of bringing all the cars out just for mitigating the crowds anger. And to ensure that there are no legal hassles. Anyways, my post was about the fundoo Indian support there and not about the politics of F-1 or about how great Narain is. Credits are due to him for coming this far but for talking way too much and not performing when it matters, he is a goner... There was news that Chennai or Hyd is negotiating to build a F-1 track - you heard that?!
